What I'm listening to

Music has always been a huge part of my life.

My nan, whom I spent a lot of time with, loved listening to the old war time songs ‘It’s a long way to Tipperary’ and Australian songs ‘G’day G’day’ among others and she was always humming. Likewise my Grandpa, who lived with us on the farm, had a passion for the theory of music and classical pieces and was always tapping out the timing on the table while enjoying his wine before dinner.

This would explain why both my parents love music. Dad always had Shakin’ Stevens, Roy the boy or Kenny Rogers in the tractor, I distinctly remember ‘Green Door’ being a favourite. Mum loves a bit of everything, but Anne Murray has always been a favourite.

Since meeting hubby, music has been a passion I have been able to share with MIL too, she is particularly fond of jazz and loves discovering new artists. As for FIL’s infatuation with Elvis, I can do a disc or two, but anymore and I start to lose the enjoyment!

I assume that because I have always had all types of music playing, the girls now share my passion for music, and can sing or dance along to almost anything. One of their favourite pastimes is to make up new playlists… and they have learned how to tinker with other people’s playlists - adding ‘I’m Too Sexy’ to my mum’s playlist without telling her was a hilarious moment, she had it playing very loud while on her bike! Mum was rather worried about what the neighbours were going to think!

Music has always been a huge part of my life, and I love listening to all types of music. My taste is rather varied and largely depends on my mood as to what I listen to on any given day.

In memory of Dad and our shared love of music, it would have been his 72nd birthday today, I’m sharing the last 20 songs I’ve played - not necessarily my favourites, because that becomes too difficult, just the last 20 :-)
