In celebration of International Women’s Day 2022, I am presenting a four part series of insight and reflection that will take you from feeling lost and lacking confidence in yourself, to having clarity on your strengths and a positive mindset.

Too often as women, and especially as mothers, we feel lost. We have lost our life. We have lost ourselves. We have forgotten what we like to do. We have forgotten what we can do. With this four part series I want to help women just like you. I want to help you to understand that you’re not alone. I want to help you to understand how you ended up here. I want to help you to rediscover yourself and get out of this rut. Because, and this is really important to understand, you can change your life, this doesn’t have to be permanent.

Part 3 - How Can My Strengths Serve Me?

Understanding your strengths can be of tremendous value for your life. 

This is the third part of a series I am sharing in celebration of International Women’s Day earlier this month. In part one we looked at why you feel lost and how you got to that place. In part 2 we looked at how you can rediscover your strengths, the simple steps you can take right now to rediscover what you’re good at. Today we are looking at how your strengths can serve you.

Knowing your strengths helps increase your self-awareness. It can give you a new appreciation for traits you previously undervalued in yourself. People who understand their strengths have a better grasp of what makes them unique and how their personality impacts the people around them.

More specifically, knowing what you’re good at will help you make better decisions every day. And knowing your strengths will, for instance, help you to become more resourceful during difficult moments of your life. 

When you have clarity on your strengths, you focus on the right things. You focus on the things that have the biggest impact on your life. In addition, you will save time and energy by focusing on things that bring the greatest returns to you and your family. 

If you are clear about your strengths, they can serve you by allowing you to contribute more value to others and the world around you. 

Importantly, knowing your strengths will naturally improve your levels of self confidence. Which is something we all struggle with as women, and especially as mothers.

Furthermore, you will be in an optimal position to take advantage of critical opportunities that only become available when you’re focused on the right kinds of things. 

For example, knowing your strengths will enable you to make the right investments, finally take the plunge and invest in that course that you’ve been looking into; book that call to see if you can start working with the coach you’ve been following; or sign up for that masterclass that looked interesting, but actually is totally aligned with what you’re good at!

If you’re wondering how your strengths serve you, ask yourself these two questions. Grab your journal or a piece of paper and write them down. Then explore what each question means to you:

  1. Which of my strengths are most important to accomplish my goals?
  2. Which strengths will help me to become the person I seek to be?

In general, knowing your strengths will allow you to make smarter choices and decisions about your life, career, goals, and circumstances.
