Are you feeling stuck?Aug 08, 2022
If you feel as though you’re stuck in a rut, that everyone else is moving forward with their lives, but you never seem to achieve anything, you may be lacking clarity in your life.
Having direction in your life is a key element to feeling content with who you are, and what you’re doing. When you lack clarity in your life, you can start to feel lost, confused and anxious. When you have clarity, you see and understand things clearly.
Frustration, tension and overwhelm can be signals that you need clarity. If you ignore them, you’re potentially robbing yourself of the opportunity to be present. So what are some of the common impacts a lack of clarity can cause?
Wondering if there is more
How often do you spend your night lying awake wondering - is this all there is? Surely there’s more to life than this - day in day out errand after errand, feeling tired and empty at the end of the day. If this is you, then stop wondering and start articulating what’s showing up for you. What do you want to do differently? What do you want to change?
Snapping at your family
We’ve all done it. We’ve all snapped at our kids, and at our partner, although they haven’t really done anything wrong. We’ve all had those moments where we wish we could have been a better parent. I know I’ve been there, and I know the journey I’ve been on to change the type of mother I am. It’s not easy, but it is necessary if you want to have a relationship with your children as they get older. You can’t keep snapping and yelling, you have to make a decision to change your own behaviour.
Why? Because snapping at your kids is a symptom of something bigger in your life. The real reason you’re snapping at your kids is that deep down you lack clarity. When you’re living your life without clear focus, the symptom is irrational behaviour.
Constantly questioning yourself
Ok my friend, I am sharing a little secret with you… you are amazing; you have brilliant skills; your strengths are what makes you special. I want you to remind yourself of this secret every, single, day.
Unfortunately, as mothers we are often left exhausted at the end of each day, and when we’re tired we allow nasty thoughts to start creeping in. Thoughts of doubt, and feelings of guilt. When you’re tired you doubt that you’re good enough. You doubt that you’re capable. You doubt that anyone wants what you can offer. Then you switch to guilt. Feeling guilty that you’re not satisfied with life. Feeling guilty that you’re not always showing up the way you want to. Feeling guilty that you’re taking your frustrations out on your family.
Don’t let those two pillars draw you in - guilt and doubt. Stand up tall and recognise who you are and what you have to offer. It’s not always easy but you can do it.
If any of this sounds familiar, make a decision now to have better clarity in your life. Articulate what it is you really want - go for a walk, pull out your journal, do whatever you need to answer this question - what do I want?
